Placing equations into Illustrator 10

Hi everyone,

For some reason I am having trouble placing equations into Illustrator 
10 that I generate in MathType.

I haven't done this in a while, so maybe I don't recall what I am 
supposed to do.  But I do remember that everything used to work fine.

I create my equation in MathType, save the equation as a .eps file, and 
then place that file (with FILE -- PLACE) into my Illustrator 10 
do***ent.  Right?

I get the equation, but it is loaded with a lot of other junk.

Please, could somebody help.
