As previously suggested, you can use the Mask Render option and work with
that. If you still would prefer to use a "green screen" method, try this.
Create a square 2D object and make sure it's perpendicular to the view of
the camera, and behind the objects you want to view. Resize the 2D object
really large, like 5000x5000 so that it fills the entire background. Now
just give it a green color in the material editor.
