To begin with, first create a new file to the actual dimensional size you
want it printed at, in the same dialog box set the pixels_per_inch to 240
-
300. Then create your art work. If you want posters, "big", you should
have a FAST CPU (at least 2 gigahertz) and at least 1 gigabyte of RAM
on your mainboard. That is the way to start.

Save your work ( File \ Save ) every 10 - 20 minutes in case your machine
shuts off from an electrical jump or blackout, this is a bad problem at my
apartment complex. A $40 UPS electrical backup for your machine will
give you 5 - 10 minutes in which to fully save your work and shut the
machine off, until your electricity is on again.

When your work is finished, save it as a TIFF file type *without* LZH
compression, for full color rendition. sRGB should be applied as the
color space if a public business will print your work, and make sure
they are using at least a 7 color Epson printer, though they have eight
color these days.

However, if you have work that you have already done and need it larger
then you must apply special software to enlarge it.

Three solutions I know of that do expert work, the free one is Irfan View
(you can download it, with it's own set of plugins), which has a very well

written 'Lanczos' algorythm for resizing, does a great job. If you use
it,
experiment with a *copy* file of your work which has been placed in a
different folder on your hard disc.

The other two are purchase solutions, one is 'Genuine Fractals', it is a
plugin that should work in Painter, I have old 2.5 in Photoshop. This
program does an awesome job and is worth buying. It will increase the
size of an image up to 600% with no ill effect, you can specify any exact
printing size.

The third but not least is 'Paint shop Pro' which has an expert quality
enlarger that is part of the save dialog box, I think under "Options", it
does quite fine work as well. No complaints on my part. Though I
don't know if saving can be done in the demo version.

I hope this helps, is there anything else you need to know?
