The Storyteller and the Listener Online is launching its first essay
competition for high school students. Students currently enrolled in a
high school in any country are invited to submit an 750- to 1000-word
essay about a time in their life when they listened to another person's
story and were moved by it to work for peace. While the competition is
open to high school students from any country, the essay itself must be
written in English. The winning essayist will receive $250 and be
published in an upcoming issue. Please note that while the essays must
be the work of the entrant and not infringe on others' copyrights, it
is permissable to submit an essay that has been published previously in
a publication with a limited circulation such as a high school
newspaper.
Deadline: May 22, 2006
For details, see link above.
The Storyteller and the Listener Online is a noncommercial e-letter
that publishes two guest essays each month from storytellers and
listeners who have experienced the power of stories and personal
narratives to create peace, heal wounds, build bridges and reconcile
differences in local communities. Link:
