I haven't read her, but I'll look her up... when I mentioned the
resemblance to Donovan, I was thinking of the almost intentionally
naive, ''comic book'' frame of mind certain acid trips induce... XTC
did a lot of great things with this ''genre'' in pretty much
everything they did, with quite a few ''science fiction girls''
popping up in these songs, such as -

That's Really Super, Supergirl
I can=92t hold you down
If you want to fly
Can=92t you see I=92m all broke up inside
Well just you use your two x ray eyes
Hurt like kryptonite
Put me on my knees
Now that I=92ve found out just what you=92re doing
With your secret identities
That=92s really super supergirl
How you saved yourself in seconds flat
And your friends are going to say
That=92s really super supergirl
How you=92re changing all the world=92s weather
But you couldn=92t put us back together
Now I feel like I=92m tethered deep
Inside your fortress of solitude
Don=92t mean to be rude
But I don=92t feel super
Supergirl
I won=92t call again
Even in a jam
Now I realise you could be on a mission
Saving some other man
That=92s really super supergirl
How you saved yourself in seconds flat
And your friends are going to say
That=92s really super supergirl
How you stopped the universe from dying
But you=92re never going to stop me crying
And I feel like you=92re trying hard
To sweep me like dirt underneath your cape
Well I might be an ape
But I used to feel super
Supergirl
That=92s really super supergirl
How you saved yourself in seconds flat
And your friends are going to say
That=92s really super supergirl
How you=92re changing the world=92s weather
But you couldn=92t put us back together
Super supergirl
How you stopped the universe from dying
But you=92re never going to stop me crying
Super supergirl
I=92m here in your fortress of solitude
Don=92t mean to be rude
But I don=92t feel super
