"F-stop" Fitzgerald, (www.f-stopfitzgerald.com) photographer, author
and former co-owner of defunct packager Balliet & Fitzgerald, has
returned to packaging with a new firm called Band-F Ltd. The packager's
first project is The Mighty Fallen: Our Nation's War Memorials
(Collins/Smithsonian) by Larry Bond with photos by Fitzgerald, to be
released in May.
Fitzgerald, president of Band-F, has a long history in book packaging.
Beyond co-founding B&F, he's also held executive positions at Avalon
Publi****ng and Hylas Publi****ng. Also joining the new firm is Karen
Jones, as Band-F development director and a partner in the venture.
Jones has worked most recently as a freelance writer for the New York
Times, the Daily News and other publications, in addition to working as
an art director (including a stint as art director of Publishers
Weekly).
Jones said Band-F will specialize in illustrated books, reference,
s****ts and travel. The packager has agreements in place to produce
books for Sterling (Doo Wop: The Music, the Times, the Era by "Cousin
Bruce" Morrow, coming in fall 2007), a series of outdoors titles for
Orvis and a series on collecting for the Smithsonian Institute.
