Staats and friends will be displaying their paintings at the Doghouse
gallery in Saugerties, during the month of July.
Just on the outskirts of Woodstock near the Woodstock Day School, the
Dog House Gallery sits comfortably on the corner of Glasco Tpk and
Phillips Rd. This idyllic setting with its timeless charm, semi-formal
gardens, is now totally in bloom.
Playfully run by the always intriguing Tom and Peg Wright, loquacious
Art lovers and former owners of the Red Coats Return in Elka Park. They
infuse their Gallery, a restored barn, with casual accessibility and
personal warmth.
There will be 30 new Watercolors by painter and teacher Staats Fasoldt,
an im****tant local artist (he made me say that), plus works by his
current students. Staats who has taught at The Woodstock School of Art
for twenty-two years, has developed a deceptively simple style of
painting. ³I try to get to the essence of a subject: itıs most
immediate pattern, then realize it in a direct manner.
³This will be a great show,² says Peg Wright, in her best WC Fields
voice ²A combination of visual treats and styles by the foremost of
Woodstock scribblers.²
